I hate menswear.
In the "menswear blogger" sense I hate menswear.
I hate suede saddle shoes.
Personally I think they are hideous, and going out in 1-2 years, with their peak in 2, and their fall the immediate season after.
I hate that there is absolutely no creativity.
The materials are all the same, its always solid color, but *jazz up the tie* or **bowtie** with a *fancy pattern*
If I wanted to dress like that, I'd be just as bland as every other guy, except I'd be wearing a suit each and every day.
When they go shopping do they look for the most expensive, but equally bland clothes?
I don't understand. I just don't.
Why do menswear bloggers care so much about obscure brands....
.....And not for just for something that looks nice?
I hate menswear.
It lacks creativity.
It lacks fun.
You can't have fashion without having some fun!

basics of outfit construction

Top to bottom, this is my idealistic idea of what I think subconsciously goes through people's minds when they pick out an outfit.

Shirt/ Top: Mood of the outfit. The top is usually the centerpiece of the outfit. Even if the top isn't the centerpiece, it still sets the mood by being neutral and making the main piece of the outfit stand out. For example:

[top is neutral and accessories are the centerpiece]


Bottom/ Pants/ Skirt/ Dress: The environment the outfit is being worn in. Jeans imply a casual environment, very short skirts imply parties, dress pants/ trousers imply a work environment.

Shoes/ Footwear: What is being accomplished with the outfit. If its combat boots, the outfit is trying to accomplish being a rebel. If its shiny and glittery flats, it depends on the rest of the outfit.



the sneakers imply casual, even though the rest of the outfit is slightly dressy or rebellious (minus the hat)

Accessories/ Necklaces/ Bracelets: Centerpiece OR Balance: Accessories can make or break an outfit. In most cases, they never break an outfit, unless overused to the point that the outfit is gaudy.



Outerwear/ Jackets/ Cardigans: Balance within the outfit. If the top is too strong, the jacket tones it down. Outerwear is usually environment based, but also works with the outfit to accomplish a mood.

Imbalance is also a mood that can be set, for example, below.

**All pieces work in harmony. With each added or substituted piece, the mood of the outfit is changed.



exceptions to the rule:
Obviously a dress isn't a top and a bottom, its the top AND the bottom.
However, the dress can be considered the top, and the bottom can be whats worn on the legs, or the length of the dress.
Obviously, leggings will imply one thing, and a floor length dress implies another.
