abercrombie & thrift
This is a guide on how to shop, and some of my best finds and how much I got them for.
Usually I see people on sites like lookbook, or on tumblr, and they say they thrifted and item, I think to myself, "There isn't anywhere around me that sells items like that! All the stores around here are terrible!"
STOP.
There are probably thrift stores or consignment stores where you can find items like I have, and maybe even better! All you have to do is look. One mans trash is another man's treasure. And a lot of thrift stores are considered trash, but once you have a look inside, you'll realize that they have better finds than you think.

basics of outfit construction
Top to bottom, this is my idealistic idea of what I think subconsciously goes through people's minds when they pick out an outfit.
Shirt/ Top: Mood of the outfit. The top is usually the centerpiece of the outfit. Even if the top isn't the centerpiece, it still sets the mood by being neutral and making the main piece of the outfit stand out. For example:
[top is the centerpiece]

[top is neutral and accessories are the centerpiece]

Bottom/ Pants/ Skirt/ Dress: The environment the outfit is being worn in. Jeans imply a casual environment, very short skirts imply parties, dress pants/ trousers imply a work environment.
[ example of environment based bottomwear]

Shoes/ Footwear: What is being accomplished with the outfit. If its combat boots, the outfit is trying to accomplish being a rebel. If its shiny and glittery flats, it depends on the rest of the outfit.

the sneakers imply casual, even though the rest of the outfit is slightly dressy or rebellious (minus the hat)
Accessories/ Necklaces/ Bracelets: Centerpiece OR Balance: Accessories can make or break an outfit. In most cases, they never break an outfit, unless overused to the point that the outfit is gaudy.

Outerwear/ Jackets/ Cardigans: Balance within the outfit. If the top is too strong, the jacket tones it down. Outerwear is usually environment based, but also works with the outfit to accomplish a mood.
Imbalance is also a mood that can be set, for example, below.

\\NOTES
**All pieces work in harmony. With each added or substituted piece, the mood of the outfit is changed.
exceptions to the rule:
Obviously a dress isn't a top and a bottom, its the top AND the bottom.
However, the dress can be considered the top, and the bottom can be whats worn on the legs, or the length of the dress.
Obviously, leggings will imply one thing, and a floor length dress implies another.
THIS IS LARGELY UNDEVELOPED.
have you noticed?
its just theory.
if you have a comment, or enjoyed it, or completely disagree, let me know!

dreaming
Every blogger's dream is to define the current state of fashion, and where they project it will be going. In reality, at the current state that trends move, its literally impossible.
I've come to realize myself that there are simply too many trends, subcultures, and clothes to keep up with.
There is no way at this point in my life I can possibly define all there is to come.
However, I can post my outfit I wore, and compare it to one of my outfits 6 months from now, and see if the trends have moved that much. It is, of course winter at the moment, but I dress in summer clothes almost year round so it shouldn't make a difference really.

next season.
considering all that I've seen, I'm just going to list off things I think will be "IN" during the S/S 2012 season.
-Aztec Patterns
-Kittens/Wolves/Animals
-Boots
-Any outfit reminiscent of a previous era.
-Scarves/Snoods will still be in, even during the warm weather
-Block Coloring/ Bright colors
-Ugly Patterns
-Minimalist t-shirts
-Shirts with text
-Satchels
-Hand carried bags
-Animal Prints
-Boots
-Leather Jackets
-Studs and Spikes
-Oxfords
-Suede mid-top shoes
-Camo
Coming In
-Cropped Jeans
Of Course:
-Skinny Jeans
-Flowery patterns
-Bright colors
Things that are "OUT"
Nothing is ever out.
Everyone creates their own style
My biggest pet peeve in fashion is when some fashion forecaster says "Bright colors and flowers will be in this season!" as if its some sort of shocking, groundbreaking statement. Those things have ALWAYS been popular because people can finally come outside and not wear a jacket, and show some colors.
This is just my opinion.

i feel as though bloggers transform into what i'm about to say
I feel like all bloggers start to have an aura about themselves that suddenly they create a blog that someone reads, and then they become a therapist for the world, even though the world's life is just as messed up as the author of the blog's is.
Anyways--
I've come to realize that there are some people that just don't understand individuality. They feel like they need to wear a certain type of clothes and be a certain type of person to fit in. They feel as if the "coolest" person takes a picture of them, or with them, their life will magically transform into something it wasn't before. All of a sudden, said person will have lots of friends. And if this said person promotes someone up-and-coming, the up-and-coming artist will be friends with said person, and as the person rises to fame, they won't forget about said person. [I've gotten a little off topic] This person also sees someone being fashionable, and only looks, and thinks they can't pull it off.
The honest truth?
They can't pull it off.
They need confidence to pull it off... and if they only try to be where the trends are currently, they have absolutely none.
Think you're cool?
If you're wearing TOMS, you aren't, and you aren't supporting a good cause, so stop kidding yourself.
Wearing UGGs? Get out.
Don't even say the words NORTH or FACE, let alone together.
American Eagle, Abercrombie or Hollister? You aren't even trying.
Victoria's Secret with PINK on your butt? Really now. REALLY.
Are those Wayfarers? That was 2010's trend. Sunglasses have moved on.
Have a shirt and vest on? LETS BE HONEST NOW. That was never, ever a trend.
Don't even tell people you have a twitter. 2009 had twitter, we have facebook and google now.
Mainstream is so accepted.
Get away from your streamlined education and think for yourself!
Wear what you want, when you want.
Can't afford Chanel? Make it yourself! DIY never hurt anyone!
Become yourself.
I'm so deep and this is only my first day :')
